Bank regulation, supervision and lending: empirical evidence from selected Sub-Saharan African countries

This study investigates the impact of bank regulation and supervision on credit in 23 Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries their low- middle-income groups from 1995 to 2017. The long-run results indicated that stringent entry barriers supervisory power reduced lending, but mitigated negative effect barriers. Furthermore, positive shocks impacted negatively credit, while capital requirements had an adverse lending. In short run, barriers, activity restrictions regulations led increases particularly low-income SSA economies.
